The June game was held at the immaculate Palm Garden Golf Club, where we were immediately greeted by numerous attractive Carlsberg girls handing out free beers as part of a Carlsberg Golf Classic 25th Anniversary tournament also being held at the club. All games should start like this ! Unfortunately, they all declined to caddy for us.
With El Pres exercising his Presidential powers and selecting the blue tees, 19 players including 2 guests (Tony Morris & Kevin Wiggins) teed-off with a 2 tee box start. Unfortunately the course was very busy because of the aforesaid Carlsberg tournament, so tee-off was slightly delayed, then play was initially slow and we had to wait for caddies to become available.
The course was, as always, in very good condition, so the balls were running well, providing you were on the fairway. If you weren’t, it was a different matter ! Greens had been recently tined so were bumpier than usual and in many cases, very fast.
As a result, and because of the aforesaid choice of blue tees, a number of us endured our own Shinnecock Hills Day 3 meltdowns; your scribe, unlike Tommy Fleetwood on Day 4, did shoot 62, but that was just on the back nine !
The weather was initially hot becoming overcast later.
Food & drink, including more free Carlsbergs for the earlier finishers, was taken at the club accompanied by good wines provided by Richard Rodwell (our sponsor for the wine prize). The evening wrapped up for most ~ 8.30pm.
Results
Only 3 players bettered or equaled their handicaps. The June medal winner was Geoff McLaws with 80 for 38 (cut 4), decided on countback over Stuart Taylor (92 for 38)(cut 2); unusually Stuart had earlier been arguing quite strenuously that his handicap should be 21 not 22. Third was Kaswira with 88 for 36 (cut 1), unfortunately with no holes-in-one this time, though a lot of very good putts.
Full results below.

- NTP winner #2 : Paul Geddes (16m)
- NTP winner #17 : Enzo Filoni (15.3m)
- Longest Drive : Ricardo Castro (198.5m)

COTD
We had 5 nominations this month for COTD.
- Stuart – for throwing a glass over Tony
- Ricardo – for exaggerating his longest drive distance
- Iain – for not understanding Tony’s pictorial fish & chips order
- Flight 2 (collectively) – for slow play & only allowing the following flight through on hole 15
- Paul Geddes – for verbal & text phone abuse of El Pres re. Item 4, plus not collecting the novelty sheets
Paul Geddes, becoming ever-more heated over Item 4, easily talked his way into the COTD position !

Only 5 honesty jugs this month (Hans (2), Edwin, Jimmy & Kevin) plus numerous other smaller fines for various misdemeanors (El Pres clearly learning from absent fines master Martin Walsh)
