The October game was held at the scenic Sungai Long Golf & Country Club.

17 players including 2 guests (Paul Collett & Jurg Stoll) teed-off on time, with 3x 3 balls & 2x 4 balls teeing off with a shot-gun start at 1pm off 3 tees. Actually, Paul was technically a returning KLOGer having been a member ~15 years earlier; however since he was not wearing a KLOGs shirt, had not paid his subscriptions throughout that time and later rebutted polite requests to settle them he was considered a guest.
The course and greens were in very good condition and dry, so the balls were running well, providing you were on the fairway. If you weren’t, it was a different matter !
The weather was very hot throughout so some players, including your scribe, flagged in the heat. The 3×3 ball flights were finished soon after 5 pm but the 4 balls were much slower so finished ~ 5.30pm, after which all players made their way by various tortuous routes to the East of Highway restaurant where we enjoyed good food ordered by El Pres, accompanied by numerous bottles of beer, plus good wines provided by RICHARD RODWELL (our sponsor for the wine prize). The evening wrapped up for most ~ 9pm.
Results
Some good scores today with 5 players bettering their handicaps and the winner having to be determined on count back. The October medal winner was Kaswira Ahmad, with an excellent score of 83 for 44 (cut 8 !) (probably his driving on the course was better than his driving to the restaurant; he arrived a long time after everyone else). Second on count back was Roger McGowan with 92 for 44 (cut 2) ahead of Edwin Ferner with 93 for 41 (cut 1).
Full results below.

COTD
We had 5 nominations this month for COTD.
- El Pres (Iain Wise) – for various misdemeanors, including suggesting to Roger on the 18th that he did not need more points to win, phone abuse (taking call from your Scribe !), getting his 1st par of day on the 18th hole and standing in a bunker which Martin then hit into.
- Kas (the only ‘local’) – for getting lost on the way to the restaurant
- Paul Geddes – for playing El Pres’s provisional ball rather than his own ball which was 10m further on, thus incurring a 2 stroke penalty
- Paul Collett – for celebrating his first green in regulation on the 18th hole, only to see it roll back off the green
- Richard R – for hitting the red marker ball on the Ladies tee box and rebounding back nearly in line with the white tee box.
Despite his attempts to rig the vote, the unanimous winner of this prestigious award was Iain Wise.
Fines
Four honesty jugs this month (Jurg, Dave & Richard for failing to reach the ladies tee, Iain for phone abuse). Jurg & Richard both actually hit the ladies tee marker but their balls rebounded almost to the white tee box; Jurg however then remarkably made par on the hole !. The last flight was also fined 10Rm each for slow play.
November Away
This will be at Hua Hin from 14-19th November; currently we have 14 players plus 1 non-playing coach / food & drinks taster. More are welcome.
December Game
The December game will be held on December 13th ; venue will be advised later
Sponsors
Our sponsors are a main reason that we can play at good golf courses and award members with trophies, attractive prizes as well as “KLOGS” signature golf balls. In order to show our appreciation we encourage members to support our sponsors.
