Taking advantage of the special Ramadan rates we played at the illustrious KLGCC East Course this month. We had 5 full flights, which was good given that many players are away during this time. The club’s check in process and organization was very efficient and we had a two point start off the white tees on the East Course. The only upset was that after checking and asking numerous times about allowing buggies on course and being told that this was allowed ….  we were then informed by the starter at the last moment that this would not be allowed, which no doubt caused much groaning and complaining from certain members.

The course was in good shape overall although the greens had obviously been recently hollow tined and were slow and bumpy. Some of the tee boxes were also noted to be a little bare and sandy. It is however a very scenic and beautiful course and some of our members decided to explore in depth the lush scenery surrounding the fairways and greens.

We all finished by 6 and were soon at Pantai Seafood Restaurant for the post-game dinner and prize giving.

COTD Nominations

  • Richard Rodwell and guest Guy Giffin for making salacious and suggestive conversation during their round. At the Par 3 7th hole when Stuart was close to the pin on his drive Guy stated he wanted to “get inside Stuart”.
  • Stuart Taylor for nominating the ridiculous 18th hole as the Longest Drive ….. the fact that only one player managed to get on the fairway and win the LD is a minor issue.
  • Stuart Taylor for looking like a “black and white minstrel” with his colour coordinated post game dress at dinner.
  • Ray Funnell for getting a birdie which nobody witnessed.
  • Stuart Taylor for coming in with 40 points and only getting 1 point on the last 2 holes. ….. handicap management?
  • Stuart Taylor for mentioning his 5 foot nearest the pin on the 7th at least two times during the presentations. He could not get this prize as he had won another prize and the NTP had to go to Dan Brod who was next at 54 feet (yes 54 feet) ….. didn’t think the greens were that big.

Stuart was unanimously voted COTD purely by sheer volume of nominations I feel.
