There were only 9 players for the February monthly game at Rahman Putra which made for a 3 x 3-ball. We played the Lakes 18 which is definitely the better of the two 18 holes here at Rahman Putra. The course was in excellent shape with well tended fairways, excellent greens and bunkers in great condition with plenty of fluffy sand.Weather was really good and by the back 9 was a very pleasant temperature. The course was also unusually quiet making for an uninterrupted round.

Results

We had a close count for the winner today with Robert Frager and  Dan Brod both shooting 38 points … however Robert won on count back with 21 points on the back 9 vs 18 points for Dan. So Robert Frager is our February Trophy winner – cut 4 strokes. Dan Brod picked up the runners up prize of a bottle of wine. Again 3rd place was closely contested with both Enzo Filoni and Iain Wise both shooting 34 points. Count back for last 9 was the same, for the last 6 the same, the last 3 the same …… and Enzo eventually won 3rd place on count back on the very last hole.

Best gross of the day went to Paul Geddes with an 88. NTP on the front 9 was not won by anyone (so Moneybags took this opportunity to fine everyone RM10). NTP on the back 9 was won by Iain Wise. It was noted that on the NTP list at the holes we even had another player who was not in our group write his name down …. so sorry Nazarrudin ….. you didn’t win!

Longest drive on Hole No 8 was won by Stuart Taylor at 250m. Last birdie was won by Dan Brod on Hole 15.

Full results were as follows:

  • Winner : Robert Frager
  • 2nd Place : Dan Brod
  • 3rd Place : Enzo Filoni
  • Lowest Gross : Paul Geddes
  • NTP (2nd nine)  : Iain Wise
  • LD : Stuart Taylor
  • Last Birdie : Dan Brod

Fines

We managed to collect some fines to boost the KLOGS coffers with one payment for not getting beyond the ladies tees, a couple of phone abuse fines and of course the RM10 for everyone for not getting on the NTP green on the 1st 9.

COTD

Given we only had 9 players today we had a healthy number of COTD nominations as listed below:

  1. Martin Walsh for using a provisional ball on the 9th with identical markings to his 1st ball so could not identify his 1st and 2nd ball.
  2. Stuart for misdirecting his playing partners by telling them it was a red flag on the 9th green when in fact it was blue.
  3. Paul Geddes for using excessive amounts of baby oil suntan cream making his shorts look like they had some dubious and semen-like stains.
  4. Allan Wright for using his 3-wood for multiple shots on the same hole and only hitting it 10-20m each time.
  5. Robert Frager for the same offence as Allan.
  6. Stuart for apparently purposely fluffing a 5 ft putt to make Paul go for a putt to win the skins match.
  7. Jimmy for noticing and commenting to the caddy (who was from Klang) that he dated a lady from Klang 24 years ago who subsequently became pregnant. His playing partners then noticed that the caddy bore some resemblance to Jimmy.
  8. Enzo for having a loud musical phone ring which apparently sounded like an ice cream van.

Jimmy Leggett won the COTD easily.

It was noted that our winner today was wearing a splint on his pinkie which was discussed as potentially being a “performance enhancing device” but the stewards enquiry did not reach a suitable ruling on this.

The food at the club after the game was excellent with the standard fare of mushroom soup, fish and chips and chocolate pudding and ice cream. We even had our own Tiger Girl to serve our beers.
