Following some favourable reports on the course at Bukit Jalil the monthly KLOGS game was arranged there as it offered a close-to-town course with an easy short drive to the East of Highway Restaurant for dinner post game.
We had 15 players for the March game with Geoff McLaws just turning up in time for the game after circumnavigating the Bukit Jalil area for sometime trying to find the entrance to the golf course. Our 4 flights teed off from two tee boxes at just after 1pm with beautiful but hot weather conditions. The course was in pretty good shape with excellent fairways and fast greens with multiple difficult slopes on many of the holes, causing grief to many players.
Welcome to two new guests playing with the group today, Richard Duxbury and David Evans and also Franz Hierz joining us for his 2nd visit as a guest.
Play was on the slow side today with the last flight finished at almost 6pm. We then moved down the road to the East of Highway Restaurant for dinner and prize giving. The dinner was hosted in a private room at East of Highway Restaurant and was very good with plenty of food for the 14 players who attended.
Results
Our monthly trophy winner for March was Dan Brod with an excellent round of 89 for 44 points. (cut 8). Runner up was Richard Rodwell with 86 for 37 points (cut 2) and 3rd place was Allan Wright with 101 for 35 points on count back from Geoff McLaws (cut 1)
Best gross of the day was given to Martin Walsh with 88 (Geoff McLaws had the “real” best gross of 80 and Richard Rodwell next best at 86 but as these gentlemen had won other prizes the next best was Martin.
Longest drive on Hole No 7 was won by Stuart Taylor at 237m (Again Geoff McLaws had the actual best longest drive of 253m but he had already won another prize). Last birdie was won by Mike Smith on his 17th hole.

COTD
We had quite a number of COTD nominations, the bulk of which seem to include Geoff McLaws for various offences :
- Geoff McLaws for getting lost on his way to the club and having severe navigational problems in finding the club entrance.
- Richard Rodwell self-nomination for 3 putting on a Par 5
- Geoff McLaws for asking the waiter at the restaurant for “some head”
- Geoff McLaws for taking 1.5 hours to reach the club from his house
- Mike Smith for losing 4 balls into the water on two consecutive holes.
- Franz for “cross-country skiing” in the hazard on Hole No 10 using his clubs as poles
- El Pres for apparently not allowing Barry Cousins to take up the last slot available in the 4 flights (totally refuted by EL Pres).
Geoff McLaws was duly awarded the COTD for the day.
