The August game was held at Tasik Puteri Golf & Country Club, playing the Puteri & Tasik nines. 18 players including 2 guests (Siggi M & Abhishek) teed-off on time with a two tee box start.
Although indicating quite fast on the Stimp meter (9.5) the overall experience was that this was somewhat of an average! Some of the greens were as quick as maybe 10.5 but others required some to really smack the ball. Most of the greens ran pretty true.
With the lack of any recent rainfall, the course was dry and hard. Fairways, if hit, gave a generous roll out to make some of us envious of our new found length. Even without the rain, Tasik Puteri is managing the ‘drought’ well and is still a great golf course and a great choice for our members.
The weather was hot throughout and progress by some was very fast so the first flights were in the Tasik private dining room soon after 5pm, with everyone finished before 6pm, and ready for a feast. The selected buffet was good and plentiful and a pleasant evening was had by all, helped down by numerous jugs plus good wines provided by RICHARD RODWELL (our sponsor for the wine prize). The evening wrapped up for most quite early.
Results
Given the favourable playing conditions mentioned above, the top seven players equaled or bettered their handicaps. The August medal winner was Stan Constantinides with an impressive score of 86 for 49 (cut 13 !). In the words of his playing partner, Geoff M, “Stan played solid golf all day. HIs somewhat (I’m on the way back to KL) ungainly swing didn’t desert him and his golf just got better and better. He had racked up 19 going out and after 4 holes on the back nine, he had 15 points (a 4, a 5 and two 3’s); I just encouraged him to keep it together and keep making pars! Well, he didn’t; he made birdies and pars. It was awesome to see it and be a part of his victory even though, as Stan so eloquently put it, “the handicap of 27 is bullshit and I’ll be glad to have it come down”! Well Stan, you got your wish”. Second was Enzo Filoni with 94 for 42 (cut 2) then third Jarno Kyhala, playing his final game for some time, with 89 for 40 (cut 1).

COTD
We had 5 (rather weak !) nominations this month for COTD :
- Pietro – for wearing the same green KLOGS shirt as the ‘management’
- Dave E – for looking everywhere for his glove at the first tee, only to find it on his hand
- Abhishek – for returning to the buggy for a ball when he had a ball in his hand at the time
- Geoff – for not being nominated for COTD (!)
- Stan & Geoff – for their provision of musical entertainment out on the golf course
It was not unanimous, but Stan & Geoff were voted as joint COTDs

Thanks
To Geoff McLaws for his input on course conditions and Stan’s play and to Jarno for contributing Rm 200 as it was his birthday and he will be leaving KL soon ; we wish him well.
And to Ricardo Castro for taking on the Presidency in the absence of El Pres. Well done !
