Tour Lead and Moneybags:   Iain Wise

EL Pres could not it make due to business commitments, the tour was therefore led by Moneybags. Ten players attended the May 2025 Away to South of Chonburi, 9 members and one guest Andy Bryson a friend of Moneybags from Dubai. Our base for the week was the Areca Lodge Hotel. Similar problems to our last visit with bus access were encountered which meant we were ferried by the hotel buggy to and from the bus each day. This did not cause much inconvenience as it enabled us to bypass the major traffic jams. After checking in we met in a bar across the road called Luck 1. This bar had odd bar stool arrangements and for later nights we met at Heartbeat.

DAY 1. Laem Chabang

We returned to familiar territory playing Laem Chabang on day 1. The course did not let us down and was as ever in excellent condition, and was probably the best course we played during the tour. We played A & B nines and as the course was quite empty, we got away ahead of time and were back in the club house earlier than expected.

With a small field the tour leader decided that players could win multiple times as he did not want to return with balls to Kuala Lumpur.

The overseas members were given a special welcome along with our sole guest Andy Bryson.

DAY 2 – Chee Chan Golf Course Day 1 of 2 Day Away Championship (Horse & Jockey)

Day 2 took us to the relatively new Chee Chan Golf Resort; we would play this course twice for the 2 days away Championship. On arrival we were me by a persistent drizzle so we all took shelter at the driving range where we took the tour group photo. Again, the course was quiet and play was fast for the 2 three balls who finished an hour in front of the lethargic fourball made up of the four musketeers.

For day 4 we played Khao Kheow which is Thai for Green Mountain. We played A & B nines as C was under intensive renovation. The course played long even when we reverted to the white tees for the second nine. It was buggy on track due to the large overnight downpour. The weather was again very hot which affected the scoring of the older teams!!!! The course and clubhouse are starting to look a little tired. With ten players we had 2 threeballs and a fourball and played a KLOGS version of adapted Scramble.
