With many of the regular players away there were only 20 of us for the April game at the beautiful Sungai Long Golf & Country Club. With an efficient check in we teed-off early from the 1st and the 10th tee boxes and with no-one ahead, the first flight was finished by ~4.20pm
The course was in great condition, as it always seems to be, with carpet-like fairways and fast but true greens.
The weather was hot or very hot, unusually with no afternoon rain, so a number of players were flagging by the end. 18 players, including our guest Dave Highgate, then made it for dinner at the East of Highway restaurant where we were joined by Richard Moss and enjoyed a good choice of food selected by Paul Geddes, cool beers and good wine, provided by Ricardo Castro.
Results
The April medal winner was Roland Steiner with a score of 89 for 43 points (cut 7). Second on count back with 87 for 40 points was Clive Gordon (cut 2) with Ricardo Castro 3rd with 85 for 40 (cut 1). Lowest gross went to Geoff McLaws with 86.
Full results below.

- NTP winner #8 : Allan Wright (5.9m)
- NTP winner #17 : Ted Parslow (6.07m)
- Longest drive #15 : None on sheet (which was cunningly hidden by the club)
- Late birdie : Andrew Robinson (though he may be cited for ornithology abuse – he killed one of the local feathered population with his tee-shot on #17)
COTD
We had 4 nominations this month for COTD.
- Tony Morris – for arriving late having left his golf bag behind on his kitchen table
- Stan – for suggesting to Andrew (Andy) that he could not tee-up though hitting his 3rd shot from the tee-box having hit into the water on hole #5
- Stuart – for buggy abuse (flat tyre)[attempted deflection by Stan]
- Iain – on par 3, for asking how far it was when they had had lengthy discussions within the group already & for poor scoring at beginning of round (1 point in first 6 holes)
Tony Morris was an easy choice for COTD, particularly as he related his tale on numerous occasions to anyone who would listen.
Auction
To raise funds for the depleted coffers, Paul suggested auctioning a book by Colin Montgomerie given away by Martin Walsh when he left for Europe; after some enthusiastic bidding, Tony Morris was the successful bidder at Rm70.
Fines
Only four ( ?) honesty jugs this month, but numerous fines were dished out by the returning El Pres. Of particular note was the fine for our winner Roland, who brought the clubs tape measure and clipboard to the restaurant !

May Away
As advised earlier, this will be in Chonburi from May 13th-18th. We currently have a full tour of 20 players ; any other interested parties will be added to a waitlist
Sponsors
Our sponsors are a main reason that we can play at good golf courses and award members with trophies, attractive prizes as well as “KLOGS” signature golf balls. In order to show our appreciation we encourage members to support our sponsors.
