What Haze !!!!
Twenty Kloggers turned up to play at Sungai Long; the course was in great condition and the game management by Shanti and her course staff was superb. Play got off on time with a two-tee box start under a light shower which promised slight relief from the haze. This soon passed and we battled through the persistent gloom; showers again returned later in the afternoon along with distant rumbles of thunder. Play however was uninterrupted and we were all finished shortly after 5pm.
The traffic was good and the majority of the players adjourned to the reliable Restoran East of Highway for the dinner and prize giving. Here we were joined by our Groupies, Barry and Andrew along with Moneybags who couldn’t make the game. Ted however found getting to East of Highway directionally challenging and arrived some 45 minutes after everyone else; for this he was fined. Guest of Roland, Mr Tan was welcomed. Unfortunately he failed to pass the ladies tee box on two occasions and was fined 2 jugs; in true Klogs spirit Roland paid a portion of his guests fine. Roland was also fined 20 Rm for playing from the drop zone using a tee.
Results
Off the white tees Sungai Long is short and the scores were good with several players scoring more than 40 points. The winner was Tony Morris with 83 for 46 points (cut 10) with Geoff McLaws second with 76 for 45 points (cut 2). 3rd was Helmut Dicknoether with 97 for 42 points (cut 1).

- NTP front nine hole 3 – Andrew Chez won this with 9.50m and was the only one to make the green; as he was OB, the sleeve was given to Dan Brod for the achievement of an Eagle. Dan was also given a celebratory drink.
- NTP back nine hole 14 – Pietro Martucci (3.60m)
- Longest Drive – Stan Constantinides line + 39metres
- Lowest gross – Paul Geddes 81 (Geoff having won second place.)
- Last Birdie – Sigi Maierbrugger #15
- Most Golf – Allan Wright rewarded with a pack of tees.
COTD
The five nominations for COTD were as follows :
- Ted proposed Dan for getting his Eagle and not meaning to do it.
- Paul for taking too long to measure his distance on the LD hole.
- Pietro for firing into Paul’s flight while Paul was still measuring his LD shot.
- Ricardo for marking Ted’s card but not knowing the score when Ted was late in turning up.
- Paul for continuously mixing up the Italian Mafia pair of Pietro and Enzo.
EL Pres judging the mood of the room took votes for Paul first and he was unanimously voted COTD. Paul downed his COTD drink stood on a chair.
November Away
EL PRES advised that the November Away was presently full with 24 players and one on the wait list. Shirts will be ordered on Friday 20th.
October Game
Next month’s game will be held on Wednesday 16th October at Glenmarie – Valley Course.
