KLOGS August Monthly game was held on 16th August at probably the best golf course in Malaysia, Kota Permai Golf and Country Club. Usually, this venue attracts a stampede of interest but on this occasion, we went with only three flights.

It was originally intended that flights 1 and 2 would tee off from the 1st tee and flight 3 from the 10th but due to a high number of buggies waiting on the 1st the starter switched us all to tee off from 10 with flight 3 teeing off first. Go figure. Playing from the white tees, all flights made their way in good time.

All flights finished their rounds in about 4 ½ hours which is a reasonable time these days given the numbers playing this course. As always, the course was presented in a lovely condition and the greens were running true and smooth at around 10.5 on the stimp meter, or that’s what they claimed.

Some greens did seem slower than others but that ‘could’ be put down to being too careful on the slicker greens that some may not be used to. One green however, was definitely slower due to more recent hollow tining. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and one not to missed in the future.

Following our rounds all players retired to a new venue, the Restoran Mactra, where we were able to quench our thirsts and feast on very well selected dishes by El Pres. The vegetable curry was exceptional.

Once we were all suitable refreshed, El Pres began proceedings by welcoming Adrian Harrison for his first game with K.L.O.G.S and welcomed back, Michael McNamara for his second game.

COTD:

  • Tony Lynch for taking the flight 1 measuring tape into his flight, flight 2.
  • Sigi nominated Ricardo for showing him his golf ball before playing but for then putting it in his buggy?
  • Sigi was nominated for not taking his bucket and spade out today, because he managed to get into 27 bunkers during his round.
  • Ricardo nominated Tony Lynch for looking for his ball 100 metres from the tee box when it was actually only 30 metres from the tee box. (It beggars belief that 30 metres would be beyond the ladies tee box).

Tony was unanimously voted the COTD for August 2023.
