We had 11 players and 4 guests for the monthly game this month at Tasik Puteri on Wednesday 20th July. We welcomed back 3rd time guest Franz Hierz, second time guest Stan Constantinides and first time guest Ricardo Castro. We also had a returning player, Pietro Martucci, who joined us today as a guest.

We had a two tee box start playing the Puteri and Putera nines. Weather conditions started well but we subsequently had a lightning delay after we had played about 10 holes. However we did eventually get started again and managed to finish our round by around 6pm.

The course conditions were good but there was some difference between the nines with the Puteri greens running very fast making some of the sloping greens very difficult. The greens on Putera were somewhat slower and had not been cut closely like those on the Puteri nine.

Post game drinks, dinner and prize giving was held at the club on the terrace which was a good location to catch the light evening breeze.

Results

The monthly medal winner for July was Bernard Romahn, with a score of 86 for 40 points (cut 4). Runner up was Allan Wright with a gross of 94 for 38 points (cut 2) with 3rd place on count back was Hans Bohi with 86 for 37 points (cut 1). Best gross of the day went to Pietro Martucci with 87 (Bernard Romahn had an 86, Hans Bohi had an 86 and Geoff McLaws had a 82 but these players had won other prizes)

It should be mentioned that our guest Franz Hierz had the best overall Stableford points with 42 but as a guest cannot win any of the place prizes.

COTD

We only had one nomination this month for COTD.

After hitting Geoff McLaws with a ball during a Loose Cannons game the day before Allan Wright made two further attempts to hit players during the KLOGS game today. At the 6th hole on Puteri he fired his 2nd shot towards the green as the players from the flight in front were just leaving the green, his shot coming over the buggies as the players left the green. He then went on in the very next hole to fire his second shot to the left hitting Geoff McLaws’ buggy and only a few feet from Geoff.

Allan Wright, El Pres, was voted unanimously as COTD.

Fines

We collected two fines today; one from Stan Constantinides for not making the ladies tee on one hole and one from Hans Bohi for phone abuse.
