Glenmarie Valley  

17^th October 2024

The October game was switched to a Thursday so that we could play the excellent Glenmarie Valley course, the course being closed on Wednesdays for weekly maintenance or was it really to give EL PRES and extra day to recover from his dodgy British Airways experience. Whichever the reason the valley as usual played really well in spite of the recent monsoon rains, we have been experiencing. It was for this reason we had to put up with buggy on track. Play got off on time and with only minimal delays we were all finished by 12:45pm.

As has been the norm when playing Glenmarie we adjourn to Restoran Twelve Roads for lunch and prize giving. Once again, the restaurant excelled and we dined in style with a good range of dishes selected by EL PRES. It was good to see Clive join us for lunch. Vice Pres as usual made a pratt of himself by asking the restaurant staff to go and buy peanuts, translation issue resulted in 10 packets of monkey nuts being delivered, to the amusement of the crowd.

The results of the day are as follows:

1^st – Andrew Cseszko 76 for 39 points (cut 4)

2^nd – Brian Stubbs 100 for 36 (cut 2)

3^rd – Martin Middleton 97 for 35 points (cut 1)

There were several nominations for COTD as below.

1. Vice Pres for buying monkey nuts instead of peanuts for the group
2. Brian for becoming a member only when realising he could win a bottle of wine
3. Brian for taking 11 years to complete 3 games and pay his membership
4. Tony for wearing the November Away Shirt before the Away.
5. Marting for taking third place whilst playing off a dodgy handicap.

EL PRES advised that the November Away will be Chiang Mai between the 17^th and 22^nd November, presently 20 players have confirmed.

The next game in Malaysia will be on Thursday 12^th December 2024 probably at Templer Park followed by Xmas Lunch at Chalet Suisse.
