Fine Weather, Fine Wine & Creative Fines !!!

Twenty Seven Kloggers turned up to play the excellent Jack Nicklaus designed Sungai Long course which was in superb condition, the greens were fast but fair, the fairways firm with some run. Play got off on time controlled punctually & precisely by Klog’s answer to Ivor Robson our own El Pres. The first three ball raced round in a record time of two and half hours, this would have been quicker had they not been impeded by running into the last of the fourballs who were only on their seventh hole.
The results of the day were as follows:
- 1st – Geoff McLaws with a fantastic 74 for 45 points (cut 9) ocb from
- 2nd – Des Hassan 79 for 45 points (cut 2)
- 3rd – Dan Brod 88 for 42 points (cut 1)
- NTP front nine – A sleeve of balls went to Alastair Guthrie
- NTP back nine – A sleeve of balls went to Karl Muir
- Longest Drive – Ron Linden 250 Yds + 61 ft
- Lowest Gross – Awarded to Andrew Chez (83) as Geoff McLaws already had a prize
- Last Birdie – Stuart Taylor for his 3 on the 16th, a sleeve of balls
Fines – Disappointing until El Pres’s creative intervention see later
Caddies – Reasonable improvement on last month
Results in full.

After the game we adjourned to the club restaurant and had an enjoyable buffet style dinner. El Pres thanked our sponsors Old Club House, Wines Direct and the Renaissance Hotel KL and encouraged members to give them their support. El Pres confirmed that the May Away will be in Hua Hin Thailand and further details will be forwarded in the next few days.
El Pres welcomed our guests of the day Roger Surieux, returning for his second game and Andrew Chez a late entrant who came fresh from a morning round at Palm Garden. On a sadder note we shall be bidding farewell to Karl Muir who will shortly be relocating to Singapore. El Pres thanked Karl for his contribution to the group, which was endorsed by all those present.
After the novelty prizes the winner’s mug went to Geoff McClaws, Des Hassan coming in 2nd received a bottle of wine which was swiftly shared amongst his table and Dan Brod a sleeve of balls for coming 3rd.
