Scribe Report
Kelab Rahman Putra Malaysia
10th December 2014

Rahman Putra, Lakes Course, showed its teeth again proving that this venue is one of the more challenging on the KLOGS calendar. Surprisingly, the wet conditions were not as punitive as was expected after the heavy rains in the last days. In fact the course was in very good condition with true greens. We were again well taken care of by the club registration ladies so that tee-off was on time with 1st and 10th hole starts for 3 flights each. Most of the flights had a shortish thunderstorm interruption towards the end of the game. A good turnout of 19 members and 3 guests enjoyed the golf with just over half breaking 100.
The results of the day are as follows:
- 1st – Klaus Kretzschmar with 94 for 42 points (cut 6)
- 2nd – Paul Geddes 84 for 40 points (cut 2)
- 3rd – Iain Wise 97 for 38 points (cut 1)
- NTP front nine – The sleeve of balls went to Geoff McLaws
- NTP back nine –The sleeve of balls went to Andrew Robinson
- Longest Drive – Geoff McLaws with monstrous 248m
- Lowest gross – Paul Geddes 84
- Last Birdie – Klaus on 16th.

After the game we retired to the club restaurant for another excellent fish & chips dinner and plenty of beer and wine. El Pres welcomed the guests Martin Burke, Rick Burnett and Arthur Rodwell. Martin and Rick having both played 3 games were then enthusiastically welcomed as new members. Arthur, on his annual trip to Malaysia, will be eligible to join in 2015. El Pres also welcomed Ron Linden, who has now recovered from an accident, which put him out of action for 7 months.
El Pres gave a short recap of the November Away to Phnom Penh, which will go into the KLOGS history as a truly memorable tour.
He then reminded those present and those reading this report that the KLOGS game and AGM will be held on Wednesday, 21st January 2015 at KGSAAS. Nominations for the committee (El Pres, VP, Moneybags and Scribe) are to be sent to El Pres Rick Brown. Rick will also request an email vote on the COTY shortly.
El Pres thanked our sponsors Old Club House, Wines Direct and the Renaissance Hotel KL.
After the novelty prizes the winner’s mug went to Klaus coming in 1st, Paul Geddes with an excellent 84 coming in 2nd took posession of the bottle of wine and Iain on the leader board as 3rd got a sleeve of balls.

COTD nominations:
• Mike Smith for asking Richard Rodwell “ How is your father?” when Arthur Rodwell was sitting two chairs away. Richard replied, “ Why don’t you ask him yourself!”
• Richard Rodwell: Arthur having ended his game could not pay the caddie because Richard had not given him any money and also had the key to Arthur’s locker.
• Paul for complaining that Stuarts score card showed he had extra shots on most holes, when in fact that was the row showing the maximum time allowed between holes.
• Karl for giving devious advice e.g. “use a 9-iron” when he then used a 5- wood.
• Richard Rodwell: Someone in his flight hits his drive on the right-hand 14th fairway and Richard claims the shot to be OB. He then proceeds to hit even more to the right into the rough and changes his mind declaring his ball not to be OB.
• Ron: Marshall abuse
• Paul: for breaking the beer bank at one of the drinks huts by buying up all the Tiger cans.
Voting did not get beyond Richard who took the COTD honours.
Richard Rodwell, acting as Santa, then gave away some promotional items from his store.
El Pres wished everyone a Merry Christmas and then closed the proceedings.
PS: Please be reminded that conduct on the course, especially towards the club staff and caddies reflects on all of us and should at all times be exemplary.
