Kota Permai was in immaculate condition for our August monthly medal game – many thanks to Barry Cousins for securing a favourable rate and getting the flights booked. The fairways were like carpets and the greens running fast but very true. This course always offers a challenge to the golfer and this was reflected in the scoring today.
Weather was hot and humid as expected but luckily no rain and the haze was minimal.
Post game we had dinner, drinks and prize giving at the nearby Mayflower Restaurant. Parking is always difficult at the Hotel’s car park so it is usually better to park opposite at the public car park …… unless of course you are Mike Smith who simply mounted the verge to slip his Honda in!

The monthly medal winner for August was Dan Brod, with a score of 90 for 37 points (cut 4). Runner up on count back was Geoff McLaws with a gross of 82 for 36 points (cut 2) with 3rd place on count back being Stuart Taylor with 88 for 36 points (cut 1). Best gross of the day went to Jarno Kyhala with 90 (Geoff McLaws had an 82, Stuart Taylor had an 88 and Dan Brod also had a 90 but these players had won other prizes)

COTD
We had 4 nominations this month for COTD.
- Andrew Robinson for leaving his hat and black boxers at the changing room …. Mike Smith brought his hat back but no-one dared to touch the black undergarments!
- Stuart Taylor for the largest backspin shot …. hitting his drive on the 9th hole right of the fairway onto the buggy track and the ball rolled back to within about 100m of the tee box
- Bernard Romahn for leaving “Panzer Tank” tracks on the greens by continuously dragging his spiked shoes
- Allan Wright for multiple e-mails sent out reminding everyone to be on time
Bernard Romahn was unanimously voted as COTD.
New Members
As Stan Constantinides and Richard Duxbury had just completed their 3rd game with the KLOGS group the committee present duly approved them as new full members.
Fines
We collected 3 fines today; Mike Smith and Dave Evans for not reaching the ladies tee and Pietro Martucci for phone abuse. Pietro’s phone went off on the 15th green as Richard Duxbury was putting …. it was playing an Neapolitan song and I thought for a moment he was about to start selling ice cream! Richard ignored the distraction and putted in.
