February 2006 Game at Tasik Puteri

KLOGS 2006 – FEBRUARY MONTHLY NEWS

The second game of the year took place at Tasik Puteri on February 15th. This popular course is easy to get to, usually well organized and in good condition – and boasts friendly caddies to revive any flagging spirits! There were 21 participants, 19 Kloggers and 2 guests.

It was an enjoyable afternoon but not without a few hiccups! Two societies starting at the same time led to some initial tee box and caddie confusion before the game got underway. And at 4.00pm a rainstorm delayed things for nearly an hour. The greens were variable – many being disappointingly slow and bumpy, not what we are used to at Tasik Puteri. However, everyone was back in the clubhouse in reasonable time for what was adequate makan and plenty of cold Carlsberg.

El Pres, in his address, welcomed the 2 guests, Barry Cousins and Andrew Sia and presented the prizes for the day, which were as follows:

WINNER – Mike Smith with 44 points!!

Second – Al Guthrie with 39 points

Third – John Preston with 38 points.

Congratulations to the 3 of you – handicap punishment now follows!

Novelties:

NTP front 9……….Klaus Kretzschmar

NTP back 9……….Andrew Sia (guest)

Longest drive……..Al Guthrie

Lowest gross……….Al Guthrie…….a rather ordinary 73!

Last birdie…………Chris Kula

Honesty jugs mounted up, helped by a number of dress code violations to swell the KLOGS coffers.

COTD nominations included Peter Karlsson for taking 4 shots to get 100 metres and incurring 2 honesty jugs in the process, Ray Funnell for great difficulty in finding the hole – ie abysmal putting, Mike Smith for having an obscenely good back 9 and El Pres himself for having 4 OB’s in the first 3 holes. Unanimity in voting resulted in Ray Funnell as COTD
