Glenmarie Valley

17^th July 2025

For the July game we once again returned to the Valley course at Glenmarie, moving the game to the Thursday as the Valley is closed on Wednesdays for maintenance. We had a record turnout for the year of 28 players which included 5 guests. The new system of players paying on line in advance worked very well with all players making payment a week before the game. A big thanks as this makes management of the game with the club so much easier. The golf course was in reasonable condition considering the extended dry spell we have been experiencing.  All flights were round in good time and we adjourned to Restoran Twelve Roads for lunch and prize giving.

As EL PRES was away in Europe enjoying the Spanish sunshine proceedings were led by Moneybags. Our 5 guests were all welcomed in particular Steve Ryder who has retired to Malaysia. Steve was a friend of Moneybags in Dubai and he was given a special drink from a special mug. Joe will be worried as competition for COTD has arrived.

1^st – Tony 93 for 40 points (cut 4)

2^nd – Ricardo 78 for 39 (cut 2) ocb

3^rd – Adrian 95 for 39 points (cut 1)

Before proceeding to the COTD, it had been noticed that Joe’s swimming equipment was incomplete. The guys at the Corkman had a whip round and procured a suitable swimming cap.

COTD Nominations

There were two contending nominations for COTD as below.

1. Joe for being Joe, causing usual mayhem.
2. Clive for directing the flight behind to tee box 10 when they were at the right tee box

Clive broke a seven-year run of COTD avoidance and took the prize

The next game will be on Wednesday 20^th June 2025 venue to be advised.

The November Away will be to Vung Tau Vietnam from Monday 17^th November to Saturday 22^nd November 2025, golf Tuesday to Friday 2 rounds at Bluffs Ho Tram one of SE Asia’s top golf courses, approx. cost 4,000Rm
