February 2022 Game – Kota Permai Golf & Country Club

It was great to return to Kota Permai which has repeatedly been voted “The Best Golf Course in Malaysia“. 32 players were expected to be teeing off, however at breakfast a call was received from one of our long-established players advising he was returning home as he had been driving around for half an hour and couldn’t find the course.

With all the latest navigational devices available maybe a look at a simple map would have helped. The course is also well sign posted off the KESAS highway.  

So 31 players including several guests teed off at the assigned hour on time. The course was in superb condition with the greens running fast and true. 

Fine weather with clear skies were enjoyed by all. The first flights were finished by 12.30pm after which we journeyed to Pantai Seafood in Kayu Ara, Petaling Jaya as the more local restaurants were closed. The group had all congregated by 2:00pm where we were met by a Honorary Member Barry Cousins. The food as usual was good and washed down with copious quantities of beer plus some good wines provided by Ricardo Castro (our sponsor for the wine prizes). EL PRES welcomed the guests and Wee and Craig as new members.

Results

The scoring was good with 6 players bettering their handicap, the February winner was Thomas Stadler who shot an excellent 82 for 42 points cut 6 (his second win in the last 4 months), in second was Martin Belderink scoring 90 for 40 points cut 2 and in third was Josef Winter also scoring 40 points cut 1.

Fines

With the red and white boxes on most holes very close to each other there were limited ladies tee box penalties. The fines were also limited, only one for late arrival, a couple for scorecard violations, and Sigi and Andrew for cross dressing i.e wearing another societies logo’ d clothing at a KLOGS event.

COTD

Nominations this month for COTD as follows: 

  1. Fritz was nominated by Clive. Fritz was in the third flight but tried to tee off in front of the second flight.
  2. EL PRES nominated by Albert for running over his caddy.
  3. Pres of Vice nominated by Clive for overshooting the bag drop.
  4. Clive nominated Pres of Vice for not returning the tape measure as requested, leaving it in his car.

EL PRES easily carried the vote and will be visiting the caddy in hospital latter!!!!
