A good turnout for the Glenmarie Valley Course. Valley is closed for routine maintenance on Wednesdays and the shift from Wednesday to Thursday golf allowed us to play there: good quality greens and fairways. For the higher handicappers, the fairway is the short grass between the trees.

There was a considerable “speed of play” difference depending on where you tee’d off. Those teeing off from hole 1 were becoming “agitated” in 12 Roads Restaurant, with delays of 20-30 minutes. Fortunately cold beer and Ricardo’s wine eased the wait.

Some good golf, some bad golf, but everyone enjoyed good weather, lively banter and the prospect of an excellent lunch. A reasonable collection of fines with Sigi just missing out on his for hitting the kerb on the same hole for 3 shots in a row.

Welcome Marc Fritschi (1st game), Espen Dalland (3rd game) and Bernard Romahn (Ex member / guest) …. We look forward to seeing you all again for golfing adventures with Klogs!

A gentle reminder to all golfers that there are no gimmies. No throwing ball markers to the caddies either. It is also very important to maintain a good pace of play and committee members / long term members may suggest a “speed up” when appropriate. Don’t take any offence, simply get up there and hit the ball!

NTP’S AND NOVELTIES

NTP Hole 4 – Alan Filipov 3.2m
NTP Hole 8 – Marc Fritschi 14.4m
NTP Hole 12 – Clive G 4.06m
NTP Hole 15 – Clive G 4.76m

Last birdie of the day went to Chez. Well worth the mention and the associated fine. This was EP’s second shot on the long par 3 …… had to sprint to the ladies tee box to grab this wonderful shot.

PLACINGS

PositionNameScore
1st – OCBIain Wise91 for 40 points
2ndKen W92 for 40 points
3rdStan91 for 39 points

Well played fellas and good to see that your handicaps will be reduced accordingly.

Lowest Gross went to Benji with a very respectable 83 (also with 39 points but you can only win once per round).

Nominations for COTD

There were several nominations for COTD as below:

NameReason
Allan FNominated by Alan F for general misdemeanours
Allan FNominated by Craig, reason recorded only as “S club issues”
TonyNominated by Stan, reason recorded as gibberish
Rob BNominated by Steve for using his range finder to measure his NTP attempt

A rousing cheer for Allan F, who takes home COTD for June 2026. Note to scribe: make notes that you can read — probably fewer beers might help.

Honorary Member

After 20 years of Klogs golf, huge congratulations to Ted Parslow on becoming an honorary member. We all look forward to seeing you at future events with tales from years gone by that have now reached the age of “old enough to be shared.” Congratulations Ted!

Sadly Departed

It is always a sad day when one of the KLOGS golfing fraternity passes away. David “Hastie” Hewitt recently lost his fight to cancer. A long term member of Klogs since 2004, he will be sadly missed by all those who knew this true English gentleman. Our condolences to his family. RIP Hastie.
