May Away 2026 – Hua Hin, Thailand

July 9, 2026

Monday 18th – Saturday 23rd May 2026 | Hua Hin, Thailand

Tour Committee
Iain Wise – Vice President & Tour Organiser
Tony Thomas – Moneybags & Scribe
Brian Jeffers – Fine Master

Day 1 – Monday 18th May: Arrival Hua Hin

Iain, Allan, Tony, Stephen, Sigi, Bernie, and Stan all travelled down on the bus to Hua Hin which took just over 3.5 hours. Tony was scorned for only bringing a 700 ml bottle of Baileys — fortunately Stephen had a full 1 litre bottle spare which he sold to Tony. Despite that, it was not enough for Tony to escape a fine on Day 2 from the Fine Master.

The travelling crew met up with overseas members Wayne Beck, Andy Bryson, Peter Kenyon, and Brian Jeffers at Bar 80 (Richard’s bar) in Soi 80. A fun night was had by all meeting new-found friends and reinstating past acquaintances.

Day 2 – Tuesday 19th May: Black Mountain Golf Course

On the bus Iain welcomed everybody to the tour and paid special tribute to those who came from the UK and Australia. Special thanks were also given to our guest players who filled in at short notice. Black Mountain was in great condition — overcast and sunny weather made it a great morning for golf. We were all chauffeured around by our own personal caddies in our own buggies.

On the bus Iain read out the flights for the main tour competition along with respective handicaps. We were also delighted to welcome our former El Pres, Paul Geddes, who joined us for the tour competition. Everyone lined up for the team photo before tee-off. Pineapple Valley was in great condition — sunny weather made it a perfect morning for golf.

Day 4 – Thursday 21st May: Pineapple Valley Golf Course

The previous night both Paul and Iain focused on trying to get Tony totally pissed so as to affect his game the next morning. Tony finally managed to escape around 12:30am when he took advantage of Iain leaving the exit unguarded — he was on the dance pole. However the damage was already done, and the sight of the burger bar still being open came to Tony’s rescue.

On the bus it was all about who would catch Tony with his thumping hangover — not even the Baileys could help. In fairness both Paul and Iain were in a similar condition, not to mention several others. Wayne urged Tony not to F things up but could Tony hold his nerve?

Day 5 – Friday 22nd May: Palm Hills Golf Course

The previous night we enjoyed the tour dinner near the seafront. The rain didn’t spoil things as we all enjoyed good seafood washed down with copious glasses of wine — thanks to Stephen for sponsoring several bottles. We all raised a glass to our dear friend Matty and wished him and his family our best during this emotional time. After the meal Tony, Paul and Wayne headed to the dark side leaving the wine connoisseurs to quaff their poison at another venue.

The morning began bidding farewell to Paul who had to travel back to KL at lunchtime. Well played Paul and thanks for coming — the tour would not be the same without you. Palm Hills was in great condition but a tricky course with lots of water. We played off the yellow tees to make things a little easier off the tee box.

COTT (Clown of the Tour)

Whilst Stan and Tony picked up 3 out of 4 COTDs between them, the accumulation of misdemeanours — and knocking the KLOGS banner over while nearly smashing a window with a golf ball during his COTD prize giving — made Wayne Beck the deserved COTT winner.

Acknowledgements

Brian stood up after the prize giving and asked everyone to thank Iain for his hard work in organising another successful tour. Tony was also thanked for managing the Whip, tapes and being Scribe. On the bus back Stan came to life and thanked both Iain and Tony for their efforts in making it a successful tour. Special thanks also to Sigi for providing the golf ball prizes.
