The Mines

Mines View over the Lake
For the first time in KLOGS history we played The Mines. EL PRES through some canny negotiations had secured a reasonable price to play this exclusive track. Sixteen Kloggers attended and play got off bright and early with a 2 tee box start hitting off at 7:30am. The greens had recently been tined and sanded and were unexpectedly very slow, which proved a little disappointing. As a result the stableford scoring was surprisingly quite low with the course off the white tees playing quite short. The course was empty so progress was good and the first flights were finished by 11:30am.

We lunched at the nearby Restoran East of Highway. The food as ever was high quality and accompanied by the usual quantity of beer and wine. EL PRES welcomed our guests Matt Hall, Leon Dabrowski and Alan Vick, Martin Middleton and Partha were accepted as new members.

There was only 1 nominations for COTD so EL PRES decided to stitch up VICE PRES by fabricating a fairy story. Needless to say VICE PRES took the award again.

Vice Pres COTD
EL PRES advised that the November Away will be Chiang Mai between the 17th and 22nd November, presently 17 players have confirmed, so room for many more
Next month’s game will be on Wednesday 21st August venue to be advised.
Sadly on Saturday 13th July one of our long serving members Andrew J Barber passed away. A moment of silence was held followed by a toast with some of EL PRES’s Bowmore Whisky.

Andrew was introduced to KLOGS by his close friend from Jakarta days- Andrew Robinson. Membership was secured at the AGM game held at Saujana in January 2009. A regular attender Andrew performed well with several podium finishes, he however only took the winner’s prize once which was at Tasik Puteri in June 2014. He was however the winner of the other prize at Templer Park in April 2013 when he turned up paid his subs but had insufficient funds to pay his fines. Andrew’s last KLOGS game was in July of 2020 after Covid restrictions had been relaxed where he paid tribute to another good friend Roger McGowan following his passing. It was these 3 good friends that had many adventures together. The full tribute is attached and can also be found on the KLOGS website.
Thanks to Ricardo for helping with the photos and sponsoring the wine.
Thanks to Sigi for maintaining our balls.
Thanks to Andrew Chez for maintaining the KLOGS website.
